Funding
Garfield Weston Foundation
About this fund
The Foundation supports a broad range of organisations and activities that share a commitment to making a positive impact to the lives of the communities in which they work, and that are driven by a desire to achieve excellence.
They make grants across the UK to organisations in the following categories:
-Arts
-Education
-Youth
-Health
-CommunityMuseums and Heritage
-Environment
-Religion and Welfare.
Notes on award amounts: There are no maximums and minimums. Core/revenue costs tend be 10-20% of annual income. Capital grants are around 10% of costs. They can consider major grants of over £100,000.
Who can apply
The Foundation is only able to support UK registered charities and CIOs (Charitable Incorporated Organisations) working within the UK.
They also accept applications from organisations that have ‘exempt’ status – this is restricted to places of worship, hospitals, education establishments, museums and housing associations.
When to apply
There are no deadlines. The Trustees make decisions all year round on grant applications.
Regular Grants (those under £100,000) are considered in order of receipt to be fair to all.
They also have eight meetings per year to review Major Grant applications (£100,000 and above) and these agendas are carefully planned in advance to ensure they are fairly balanced throughout the year.
How to apply
Apply online via the Foundation website.
