Volunteer update Mar 15th 2023 – opportunities from Aberdeen Climate Action, Royal Air Forces Association and Music 4 U

Here is your weekly update from Volunteer Aberdeen!

Build Aberdeen Climate Action’s social media presence as a Social Media Lead volunteer; become a Connections For Life volunteer with Royal Air Forces Association and help tackle social isolation in the community; or assist with Music 4 U’s charity fundraising events as an Events volunteer.

No matter what your interests, age or availability there will be a volunteer opportunity suited to you!

There really is no better way to get involved with your community than to give your time and share your skills with your city’s third sector and community organisations. And, if these opportunities don’t suit your interests, don’t worry. There are hundreds more available to browse at volunteeraberdeen.org.uk and on the ACVO site at acvo.org.uk/opportunities/volunteering

If you have questions about volunteering in Aberdeen or how to involve volunteers with your organisation, contact our Volunteering Services Manager, Mike Melvin at mike.melvin@acvo.org.uk

Social Media Lead Volunteers

Aberdeen Climate Action

Aberdeen Climate Action (ACA) is seeking Social Media Lead volunteers to help with the crucial work in our social media team. Our website and social media provide information on climate change, sustainable living, and relevant events. The purpose of the social media team is to guide the creation of new posts and to unify the organisation’s social media presence.

ACA is a volunteer-led organisation, which focuses on educating and prompting action on climate change in the North East of Scotland.

As a Social Media Lead Volunteer, you’ll find yourself helping with:

  • Primarily promoting the climate café each month
  • Managing the messages to social media accounts
  • Promoting events
  • Creating graphics
  • Making relevant content
  • Creating Facebook events for the café
  • Promoting sustainability articles/ideas via our social media platforms while liaising with other groups such as XR and Friends Of the Earth

You’ll be working alongside a diverse collection of individuals; from students to retirees; lawyers to oil and gas professionals; local Aberdonians to peoples from across the globe.

ACA wants to offer you an interesting and valuable opportunity that can help bolster your CV, develop or gain skills; make new friends; or just do your part to help the environment. No matter what, your time and the work you do helps ACA complete its valuable work in the North East.

Connections For Life Volunteers

Royal Air Forces Association (Aberdeen)

The RAF Association is a member-led, welfare charity that exists to ensure that all members of the RAF community are supported, when they require it.

Our Connections for Life service entails friendship telephone calls from volunteers to beneficiaries within the RAF community who may be experiencing loneliness, adapting to life after service or just looking for a general chat.

We will provide you with all the necessary training so you can rest assured that you will have all the skills you need. As a Connections Volunteer, you will have the support of a dedicated coordinator as your point of contact.

A RAF or forces background is not essential, and we welcome applications from all areas of the community.

For further details please contact Craig Anderson, RAF Association Connections Administrator at email: volunteers@rafa.org.uk or telephone: 0800 018 2361.
