Maggie’s Cancer Centre Aberdeen: Centre Volunteers

Maggie’s Aberdeen

Our centres rely on the support of volunteers, so that our Cancer Support Specialists can concentrate on providing our visitors with the support they need.

Administration, greeting visitors, maintaining the library area, filling the dishwasher, making cups of tea… there are so many different ways for our volunteers to keep our centres running smoothly.

Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. A new volunteer will shadow one of our existing volunteers for 6 shifts. There will always be a member of staff to offer support and they will have regular contact and support from the Centre Head.

Rosie’s Shop Volunteers

Rosie’s Social Enterprises

We are looking for volunteers to help in the Rosie’s Shop at 45 – 49 Holburn Street.

Responsibilities would include taking framing orders, greeting and helping customers, cleaning and helping with shop displays, meeting sale or return suppliers and taking in and cataloguing stock and other associated tasks including interacting with our service users who are in recovery from mental ill health and acquired brain injury.

The shop hours are:

Monday to Thursday 10am – 5pm
Friday 9.30 – 4.30pm
Saturday 9.30 – 2.30pm

A variety of shifts are available within these times.

Maybe you are between jobs and looking for a way to fill a career gap or want to do something a bit different and enjoyable while supporting a local charity, all enquiries welcome!

Mamacita Foundation: Foodbank Volunteers

Mamacita Foundation:

This is an opportunity for us to show the kind of love for humanity that abides in this beautiful city of Aberdeen to the newest members (immigrants) during their integration and inclusion process. Helping in the way of supporting families and individuals in need of these food items due to lack of funding, no job, or even homeless situation (with no recourse to public funding from the government), amidst other integration and inclusion struggles will go a very long way.

Most of these beneficiary members include men, women, children, and young ones, who are not necessarily asylum seekers or refugees but immigrants who have come to our beautiful host city and made it home. The cultural, social, and moral differences that exist between their home country and Aberdeen (host community), have made settling (integration and inclusion) more difficult for these members. No job equates to no money, which also equates to no food. Mamacita Foundation, as part of our social responsibility is partnering with other organisations and working endlessly to ensure a swift integration and inclusion process for these members of our community.

In our bid to manage food waste reduction as well as get it to persons in need of these food items, we are calling on you, yes you, to join us as we work with @CFINE, @ Fairshare, and @ Coop group in reaching out to persons.

Your service to humanity is always appreciated and we look forward to working with you in supporting others in need. Nobody should feel alone.
