All the latest news, updates and highlights from the third sector in Aberdeen
This month we take a closer look at the recent Zero Waste Cooking Day, hosted by CFINE in partnership with Granite City Good Food, which saw eager cooks of all abilities set foot in the Cook in the ‘Nook kitchen to test their skills on pickling, pancake-baking and soup-making – all with minimising food waste in mind.
We also have some impactful stories from Alcohol & Drugs Action’s garden project where, every Wednesday throughout the year, a diverse group of volunteers, each with their own story and motivation, come together to tend to the garden while developing meaningful and supportive social connections. Read our feature to find out more about their stories and the huge difference they make.
And, as always, we bring you the latest updates, news and opportunities from and for Aberdeen’s third sector, including the news that We Are Here Scotland’s Rise Up! Festival – a three day vibrant celebration of the diverse voices and visions shaping Aberdeen and Scotland’s Black and PoC creative communities – is back for its third year from May 2nd – 4th. We also have a guest article from Helen Gauld, Chief Executive of Langstane Housing Association, with the news that their organisation has adopted the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing; details of shmu’s recently launched Angela Joss ‘Bee You’ Memorial Award; insight from ACVO’s Policy & Consultations Officer, Alasdair Ross and much more.
These are your updates and this is your news.
