About this fund

The Hugo Burge Foundation provide grants to supportĀ the arts, crafts and creative industries across the UK.

Objectives of Fund

The funding is intended to support creativity across the UK. There are three focus areas:

  • Creative Education – supporting projects that provide young people (ages 0-29) with opportunities to engage in creative activities. This includes funding for workshops in schools, field trips to cultural sites, and the purchase of materials for student engagement.
  • Creative Communities – aiding organisations, festivals, fairs and community groups that develop and deliver cultural and creative arts initiatives within their local areas.
  • Creative Individuals – providing individual artists, including those in visual and expressive arts, writers and craftspeople, with funding to support their artistic projects.

Value Notes

For the Creative Education and Creative Communities strands, the maximum award is £15,000. For Creative Individuals, the maximum award is £5,000.

Who Can Apply

TheĀ grants programme is open to a broad range of applicants across the UK:

  • Creative Education – schools, local authorities, community groups, charities, museum/gallery spaces, educational institutions and arts organisations, and more.
  • Creative Communities – festivals, charities, arts organisations and community groups.
  • Creative Individuals – artists who are over 18 and may be practitioners in all creative disciplines.

Eligible Expenditure

Grants can be used to support a wide range of activities including individual projects, community arts festivals and cultural fairs, workshops in schools andĀ field trips to arts or cultural sites.

The Foundation also provides an access support fund totalling Ā£7,000, available on a first come, first served basis. The fund will go towards paying access support workers up to Ā£300 for a day’s worth of services for applicants that might face barriers applying without assistance, including being Deaf, disabled or neurodivergent.
