The Bread Maker

Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund

November 2022

At The Bread Maker, they bake great bread products the traditional way – with love and care. As a social enterprise, their purpose is to change lives for the better, here in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland.

They provide meaningful work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and their apprentices work within a thriving business and learn life skills which help them fulfil their potential.

As well as being a working environment, The Bread Maker presents apprentices with the opportunity to connect with others on a social level and develop meaningful, lasting relationships with their peers. During the pandemic, apprentices were unable to work which had a huge impact on their wellbeing and mental health.

A grant from the Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund helped increase the reach of The Bread Maker’s training activities, enhancing the skills of, and opportunities available to, the adults they support.
