Danestone Community Centre: Chatty Café

Danestone Community Centre plays a key role within the community. Offering 91 different activities a week in Aberdeen’s North Locality, the centre acts as a vital space for people to come together and connect.

It became apparent during the pandemic that the effects of solitary working had the potential to impact negatively on the mental health and wellbeing of childminders. The Chatty Café was established to provide an informal space for those working as childminders to meet others in the profession in order to form meaningful connections and foster a sense of togetherness.

Those who attend the sessions value them not only for the friendships and bonds they make themselves but also see the social benefit the Chatty Café offers for the children in their care.
