This online training course is a valuable opportunity to explore the unique challenges of working with grieving clients who express suicidal ideation and develop key skills to help support clients. We will discuss strategies and tools to identify risk while supporting these clients in a compassionate and safe therapeutic environment.
“I’m just such a burden on everyone around me, maybe it’d be better if I wasn’t here.”
“I just want to be with her again.”
While grief involves emotional pain related to loss, suicidal ideation involves thoughts of ending one’s own life – but in grieving clients, the two often overlap.
This session explores the unique challenges of working with clients who are grieving and express the wish to end their own lives. We will discuss strategies and tools to identify risk while supporting these clients in a compassionate and safe therapeutic environment.
We will also explore the impact of your own experience around suicide and the emotional intensity of working with grieving and suicidal clients on you and your practice.
