We Too!

We Too! Creates Space for You (at Ninja HQ)

About the project

There are no spaces within the centre of Aberdeen with consistent opening hours that can be a "safe space" within the city as well as an information hub for parent/carers to access. Parent/Carers often report feeling forgotten, especially as many are experiencing school refusals from their children as anxiety rates soar post Covid. Creating a space that they can access complete with a sensory area, creates a calm and welcoming environment where information and peer support can be delivered in a non-judgemental and compassionate environment. The created environment also allows them to attend with their loved one, should childcare be an issue with non-school attendance. This early intervention can prevent ongoing loneliness and isolation that often occurs with parent/carers who opt to stay home as their child’s behaviour can become more challenging and subject to public scrutiny and negative opinions.

Key priority area: Early intervention
