Project description:

We are applying for funding to support a new Intergenerational Nature Project led by Torry Development Trust and ACE Voices, and in partnership with RGU and Aberdeen City Council. This project would encompass an intergenerational group of 5-7 P4-5 pupils e.g. from Walker Road School, 1-2 school staff, 2-3 RGU students, and 5-7 older Torry residents. We would meet weekly for a half-day over 14 for walks around the local area, beginning to develop positive relationships through conversation, sharing stories about heritage, memories, and common interests. On these walks, we would also stop off at different points to play games together, using the natural spaces and our imaginations as creatively as we can. From these initial experiences, as a group, we will decide on future activity, encouraging the community to taking ownership of looking after particular places/spaces, deepening a sense of connection with people, places, nature, and all the intertwined spaces in-between. The development of this group would sow seeds for a more expansive project beyond June 2022.
