Trained and supervised volunteers will visit each family weekly, for around 2.5 hours. Support will last on average a year. Referrals may come from health visitors, social workers, wellbeing hubs, or self. Emotional and practical support is customised for each family and may include: Listening, supporting, and encouraging; Helping set boundaries and routines, from breakfast to bedtime; Encouraging take-up of other services; Arranging a year’s subscription to CFine’s food pantry; Arranging specialist advice and help on debt and fuel poverty; Access to Home-Start support groups addressing healthy eating, perinatal infant mental health, and isolated families; Providing practical support to ensure medical and dental appointments are met; Arranging subscriptions for local groups; Providing winter jackets. All volunteers are carefully selected, trained, background checked, and supervised. A co-ordinator will regularly monitor and review progress with each family.
