Project description:

We are seeking funding to pay for African drumming tutors to provide free group drum classes for different sections of society most in need. We will provide group sessions for adults with additional support needs and group sessions for all other adults facing social isolation, financial barriers to participation, mental health problems, and substance addiction. The second part of our application is to fund the purchase of African drums and other musical equipment that can be used 7 days a week. The difference this proposed project will make in people's lives is a sense of wellbeing, the ability to try something new, to create new lasting friendships, to access facilities normally out of reach unless you have the ability to pay. Music is one of the greatest tools to bring people together, to improve mental health and general wellbeing, while importantly there will be no cost to participate, maximising the reach.
