Project description:

The Artroom project is inclusive and intergenerational. Trained and qualified artists use their skills and knowledge to gently tease out the artist that we believe is inside every person. Conversation, a library of art books and high-quality art materials ensures that each participant of Artroom can be inspired to create something and feel special. The artists concentrate on connection with everyone in the session using the joy of art and choice. The participant makes all the decisions of their creative journey, which materials to use, colours, and most importantly deciding what inspires them to create. Each session lasts around 2 hours, giving the artists time to get around everyone and engage with each participant. The grant will enable us to deliver art sessions in Bonnymuir Community Café. The fund will support the crucial and main component of these projects – the two sessional artists. GHAT invests time and funds in the training of the artists in safeguarding and collaborating with vulnerable people. Their sensitivity and ability to gently facilitate is the strength of the project which delivers the impact and benefits we have observed.
