Project description:

Funding is requested to support various courses and groups taking place at Maggie's Aberdeen to support those impacted by a cancer diagnosis as well as their carers, family and friends. We request support to deliver the following courses and groups at Maggie's Aberdeen on a face to face basis: Living with Less Stress - Helping those affected by cancer to manage stress - delivered once a week over a course of six weeks; Where Now? - Helping you move forward when treatment has finished - 8 week course delivered at least once a week; Cognitive Rehab - Learn techniques to improve memory and concentration - 6 week course delivered weekly; QiGong - Moving meditation to improve physical wellbeing - in demand class that is delivered twice a week, every week. Each course and group is facilitated by our Psychologist who comes with a wealth of experience from her NHS role as a clinical Psychologist. The aim is to build an individuals' confidence both in everyday life but also in speaking with family and medical teams. This helps them become an active partner in their treatment and makes them feel more in control of their own life - a feeling that can often be diminished following a cancer diagnosis.
