About this fund

We are now accepting applications from education, youth groups and clubs, community enhancement and sustainability enhancement groups only.

What is Community Support?

Community Support provides funding to projects that make a real difference to local communities in the UK. This includes areas such as animal welfare, arts and culture, community enhancement, education and training, sustainability, and more.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible, organisations must:

  • Fall into one of these categories: mental health, disability, equality and diversity, relief support, arts and culture, animal welfare, youth groups, community enhancement, sustainability and more.
  • Be based in, or operate solely within, the UK.
  • Be located within 50 miles of an Arnold Clark branch.

Unsure which category of funding you should apply for? We’ve broken them all down here, alongside our timeline, so you can see when to apply and who we’re accepting applications from.

Please note: We aim to distribute funding fairly across all areas. If a large number of organisations in your region have already received funding, this may affect the outcome of your application.

We welcome applications from:

  • UK-registered charities
  • Local community groups
  • Social enterprises
  • Community interest companies
  • Groups of organisations that are community or voluntary-led
  • Charitable incorporated organisations

We do not accept applications from:

  • Individuals
  • Sole traders
  • Organisations operating outside the UK, even if they are registered in the UK
  • Organisations generating profit for private distribution
  • Schools, nurseries, colleges (unless this immediately impacts the wider community)
  • Organisations that do not have a business bank account in their name

We’re unable to fund projects that involve:

  • Funding requests for private gain
  • Religious activity (unless this immediately impacts the wider community)
  • Benefiting an individual rather than the wider community
  • Political activities
  • Grant-giving organisations
  • Travel applications (except local community day trips)
  • Wages, loan repayments or debt repayments

Looking for support with funding?

Identifying funding opportunities and writing grant applications can seem overwhelming, especially when the future sustainability of your group is dependent on gaining funding support.

Our supportive Funding Officer, Claire Shaw, can help your organisation with every step of the funding application process, from carrying out funding searches to proofreading your application.
