A historic independent arts venue in the north east of Scotland has entered panto season stronger than ever, with an expanded team ready for the festivities and beyond.
Aberdeen Arts Centre has welcomed a dynamic duo of industry professionals to strengthen its position as a leading venue and community hub in Aberdeen. The new appointments will allow the centre to expand its already varied programme of shows, creative learning for children and adults, and artist development for professional creatives.
Eoin Smith joins the team as communications advisor, following over a decade in PR and marketing agencies all over Scotland. Also an award-winning magician, published author and former entertainment journalist, Eoin is fully immersed in the local cultural scene and his passion lies in telling the stories of artists and performers, as well as the centre itself.
Newly appointed hospitality manager James Welsh has worked in a number of the north east’s best loved tourism and hospitality venues, bringing with him a keen eye for detail and ambitious plans to elevate Aberdeen Arts Centre’s offering. From corporate events to theatre premieres, James will ensure all visitors’ needs are catered for.
Director of Aberdeen Arts Centre, Amy Liptrott said: “This is a very exciting time for Aberdeen Arts Centre, as we bring in Eoin and James to strengthen our offering. They have arrived at the busiest time of the year – panto season – but that certainly hasn’t phased them, and they are already effecting positive change across the organisation.
“We take our responsibility to promote and develop the arts in Aberdeen and the north east very seriously, so to be able to expand our team in this way and provide even greater service will do just that.”

Aberdeen Arts Centre is an independent arts venue and registered charity in the heart of Aberdeen. For over 60 years, it has played a crucial role in the north east’s vibrant arts scene through its programme of performances, Creative Learning Programme for children and adults, and an Artist Development Programme to support local professional creatives.
The venue encompasses a 350-seater auditorium; café bar; flexible spaces for performances, events, exhibitions and meetings; and the Children’s Theatre, opened in the 1950s as a pioneering youth theatre and now used as a vital resource for professional artist development.
