Local charities to gather for The Big Help Out Volunteering Fayre

Third sector organisations across the city encourage the people of Aberdeen to come along and celebrate the city’s vibrant voluntary sector.

As part of the Coronation of HM King Charles III and inspired by his life of dedicated service, Monday 8th May 2023 has been designated as The Big Help Out. This day will coincide with the great, historic occasion and will provide a fantastic and unique opportunity to celebrate volunteering across the UK.

Family and children’s charity We Too!, in partnership with ACVO and the Trinity Centre, is delighted to be hosting The Big Help Out Volunteering Fayre where people can come along and find out more about the wonderful world of volunteering, as well as discover volunteering opportunities in the city and the chance to view a volunteering film produced by ACVO.

Councillor Dr. David Cameron, Lord Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen and Lord Provost, will kindly open the event at 11am on Monday 8th May at the Trinity Centre.

At the fayre, people will have the opportunity to speak with the following local charities, voluntary and community groups about how people can get involved with volunteering and how they can make a real difference for people and the community:

Aberdeen Foyer – Nightstop North-East Scotland, Aberlour Children’s Charity, ACVO, Asthma and Allergy Foundation, Barnardo’s Aberdeen Young Carers, British Heart Foundation, CHAS – Children’s Hospices Across Scotland, Childline, Denis Law Legacy Trust, Future Choices Aberdeen, Girlguiding Aberdeen & Shetland, Grampian Opportunities, Guide Dogs Aberdeen Branch, Inchgarth Community Centre, Legion Scotland, Marie Curie, Rape Crisis Grampian, RNLI – Aberdeen Lifeboat Station, shmu, Soroptimist International of Aberdeen, STAND International,  Team Jak – Jaks Den Aberdeen, TLC Befriending, Touch of Love Outreach, We Too! and much more.

Mike Melvin, Volunteering Services Manager at ACVO, states: “HM King Charles III’s dedication continues to inspire and encourage people to get involved in their community and volunteer. The tremendous support to volunteering will bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation weekend.”

The Big Help Out Volunteering Fayre will take place on Monday 8th May, 11am – 2pm, at the Trinity Centre in Aberdeen.
