In this month’s news, the ACVO team brings you a jam-packed edition full of third sector updates, stories and opportunities from across Aberdeen!

It’s Volunteers’ Week 2025! Join us this week (2nd-8th June) as we say a huge thanks to all the volunteers who give back their time to communities in the city. To celebrate, we put a special spotlight on the volunteers over at the Asthma and Allergy Foundation. On pages 34-39, read Ande, Ayo, Stuart and Hanah’s experiences at the Foundation and get inspired to join in too!

Also in this edition, discover words from Cruse Scotland Bereavement Support as they help people navigate loss and grief. Discover how the team support people to work through the challenges of losing a loved one on pages 28-31.

We highlight the powerful community of volunteers behind Friends of Seaton Park on pages 24-27. Take a look at how their dedication has resulted in the park thriving, becoming a place for everyone to enjoy. Also, discover how a creative inhaler design competition run by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation has meant that children and young people have raised awareness and help break the stigma of using inhalers – read now on pages 22-23.

Finally, on pages 4-9, the ACVO team is delighted to share our latest updates – Brimmond Court receives a £10,000 grant from the Community & Coast Fund for a brand new kitchen, our latest film featuring our governance expert Sandy Mathers, our brand new insight blog from Funding Officer Claire Shaw and The Promise updates from Gette Cobban.

This is your news, your stories – if there’s something happening in Aberdeen that we should feature, get in touch with ACVO’s Communication Officer, Andrew, at andrew.davidson@acvo.org.uk or Digital Media Assistant, Emily, at emily.shepherd@acvo.org.uk. We’d love to hear from you!
