Charlie House brings Big Bounce event to Union Terrace Gardens

The event, which is now run by local children’s charity, Charlie House, will take place at the new location on August 8-11 from 11:30am to 5pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Designed for children and their families, the event will feature fun-filled activities from bouncy castles to inflatable axe-throwing and carnival-style games, as well as stalls for face painting and glitter tattoos.

The event, operated by Charlie House staff, volunteers, and activity providers, is free to attend, but activities will require the purchase of tickets to participate.

All funds raised will be donated to the charity, supporting its mission to improve the quality of life for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.

Charlie House supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions in the North-east of Scotland. It supports children to live as full a life as possible by providing inclusive and accessible activities for the whole family to enjoy and make precious memories together. Additionally, it provides information as well as emotional and practical support.

The event, previously hosted by Bon Accord Aberdeen, attracted more than 20,000 people to the city centre when it was last held in 2022.

Ollie Middleton, fundraising team lead at Charlie House, said: “We’re thrilled to bring back Big Bounce to Aberdeen this summer, especially in the newly revitalised Union Terrace Gardens. This new venue offers a fantastic backdrop for families to enjoy a variety of fun activities while helping raise vital funds for Charlie House.

“Every ticket purchased directly supports our mission to improve the lives of local children with life-limiting conditions. Our team cannot wait to meet and greet the people of Aberdeen for a fun-filled four days.”

A team of 300 volunteers are being recruited for the four-day event. Volunteers will receive tickets for activities at the event as a gift of appreciation. If interested in volunteering, please email volunteer@charliehouse.org.uk
