We are delighted to launch the October 2025 edition of ACVO News, our monthly magazine showcasing the work, achievements and opportunities across Aberdeen’s third sector.

This month we are excited to announce that Year 2 of the Community & Coast Fund is now open for applications. Third sector groups in Torry and Cove can now apply from a share of £100,000 to support their community projects. Read details and get inspired by projects funded in Year 1, including Cove Thistle AFC’s purchase of new landscaping equipment, Loirston Parent Council’s school grounds improvement scheme, Lochside Academy’s internal courtyard development and the installation of new signage at Altens Community Centre.

We also bring you an exclusive story where Seonaidh Baker, PR and Development Manager, shares the latest round of The Trades Widows’ Fund and how they are helping local groups in Aberdeen thrive with small but powerful grants. Read the full article on page 20-21 to discover why they are committed to giving back to communities in the city.

Also in this edition, Team ACVO provide the latest insights: strengthening volunteering with Mike Melvin, Cash First reflections from Amy Duncan and creative wellbeing funding opportunity spotlights from Claire Shaw.

Other highlights from October’s ACVO News include:

  • Autism and Neurodiversity (A-ND) and Scottish Autism announce merger in a landmark move to expand and strengthen support for autistic and neurodivergent people, their families and communities across the country.
  • Camphill Wellbeing Trust recognises volunteer contributions as they officially open their North Point building.
  • Ladies’ lunch event raises over £16,000 for GEF to support girls in the North East of Scotland and Kenya.
