In this month’s newsletter, we’re delighted to share inspiring voices from a group of volunteers at Ruthrieston Community Centre. Anita, Penny, Susan and Keith highlight their personal experience with volunteering and why it matters to them. From the weekly Friday Café to cooking classes, arts and crafts, book clubs and wellbeing sessions, they each share what the community centre has to offer and encourages others to get involved too.

We also bring you a glimpse into Aberdeen City Council’s Street Youth Work team as Alli Hutcheon and Mat Reed discuss their day-to-day work directly engaging with young people in the city centre. They urge third sector organisations to get in touch if they have anything to offer this demographic in Aberdeen, to help address antisocial behaviour and ensure young people make positive choices.

Finally, we share the latest insights from Team ACVO Mike Melvin shares why volunteering matters in Aberdeen, exploring the positive impact it has on individuals, organisations and communities. Meanwhile, Emily Shepherd reflects on her recent visit to the Fairer Aberdeen Fund Showcase – connecting with third sector colleagues, learning about impactful projects and recognising the importance of supporting initiatives that help tackle poverty, deprivation and inequalities.

Other highlights from March’s ACVO News include:
