AberNecessities launches Christmas “Believing in Magic” campaign

Reading time: 2 minutes

With Christmas fast approaching, AberNecessities has launched its annual Believing in Magic campaign to ensure no child in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire goes without essentials this festive season.

This year, the charity aims to bring the joy of Christmas to over 5,000 local children living in poverty.

Currently, 24% of children in Aberdeen live below the poverty line, meaning that as many as 1 in 4 local children may miss out on the warmth and happiness that make Christmas special. The Believing in Magic campaign seeks to provide these children with Christmas Eve boxes, gifts, cosy pyjamas, and other much-needed items, allowing them to feel the wonder of the season.

Last year, with the incredible generosity of donors, AberNecessities reached over 5,000 children, delivering hope and joy to families across the North East. This year, demand is at an all-time high, and the charity is once again calling on the community and local businesses to make a difference in the lives of children.

โ€œChristmas should be a time of joy and celebration, yet for too many children, itโ€™s filled with hardship,โ€ says AberNecessities Founder Danielle Flecher-Horn. โ€œOur campaign seeks to change that. With the support of our community, we can bring the wonder and warmth of the season to every child, no matter their circumstances. Itโ€™s the kindness and generosity of our community that truly makes this campaign possible.โ€

“With the support of our community, we can bring the wonder and warmth of the season to every child, no matter their circumstances.”

Ways to Support the Believing in Magic Campaign

AberNecessities offers multiple ways for individuals and businesses to contribute to the campaign:

  • Sponsorship Opportunities: Businesses can sponsor the campaign through packages, directly impacting childrenโ€™s lives during the festive season.
  • Giving Trees: Companies can host Giving Trees with AberNecessities baubles, allowing customers and employees to donate essential gifts.
  • Financial Contributions: Individuals and organisations can make direct donations via AberNecessitiesโ€™ fundraising page here.

Every Donation Makes a Difference

Each donation goes a long way in spreading holiday cheer:

  • ยฃ5 provides a selection box and festive treats to sweeten the season.
  • ยฃ10 includes a festive mug, hot chocolate, and a storybook – perfect for a cosy Christmas Eve.
  • ยฃ15 supplies pyjamas and fluffy socks, ensuring a child stays warm and comfortable.
  • ยฃ40 creates an entire Christmas Eve Box filled with toys, treats, and surprises.
