Aberdeen law firm supports circular economy by donating furniture to local charities

Reading time: 2 minutes

Following their move to new headquarters over the past two years, Aberdein Considine has donated van-loads of office furniture from its previous Aberdeen address to local charities.

Now based in Blenheim House in the Granite Cityโ€™s West End, the law firm sought support from the Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations โ€“ Third Sector Interface (ACVO TSI) to find new homes for office furniture and kitchen appliances from its previous base on Bon Accord Crescent.

Desks, chairs, cupboards, coat stands, meeting room furniture, fridges and even some Christmas decorations have been passed on to the Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnershipโ€™s Wellbeing Hub, Barnardoโ€™s, Able Care @ Home, the Grampian Regional Equality Council, Kingโ€™s Church and Cfine, giving pre-loved equipment a new lease of life while supporting those working on behalf of the local community.

With more than 20 yearsโ€™ experience as Aberdeenโ€™s central hub for third sector support, ACVO TSI helped match Aberdein Considineโ€™s donations with charities most in need of second-hand office furniture, equipment and white goods.

Dave Mitchell, HR Director at Aberdein Considine, said: โ€œIn Aberdein Considineโ€™s 40-plus years in business weโ€™ve enjoyed helping thousands of people find their forever homes and this time weโ€™ve been doing the same for our own pre-loved office furniture. Moving into our new premises in Blenheim House gave us the chance to refresh our workspaces, but we were keen to ensure that any items still in great condition could continue to be put to good use.

โ€œWeโ€™re very grateful to ACVO for helping us connect with local charities in need of office furniture, allowing us to support a circular economy and sustainably recycle our equipment.”

“Itโ€™s been rewarding to see these items find new homes across the city, and weโ€™re proud to play a small part in supporting organisations that do so much for our community.โ€

Jane Russell, partnership manager at ACVO TSI, said: “The third sector is a vital source of health and social care support for thousands of people in Aberdeen and need support from everyone in whatever shape that takes. Aberdein Considine got in touch about their furniture offer and made the whole process so easy for our organisations to respond: a date and time and contact person is often all they need to realise opportunities that can be given.

“We are delighted that Aberdein Considine got in touch, stayed in touch and followed through for us.”

“In difficult times, itโ€™s amazing to see organisations supporting other organisations in whichever way they can.โ€

Blenheim House, located on Fountainhall Road, is now the flagship headquarters for Aberdein Considine, and Aberdein Considine Wealth, with the 6,049 sq ft office space being designed specifically for the firm to offer a modern, fit-for-purpose location for colleagues and clients alike.
