Aberdeen charity All Life Chances has appointed three new trustees to its board: Ray Riddoch, Chris Grinyer, and Jane Barney. Together, they bring decades of leadership experience across energy, finance, and property, along with a shared passion for community development.
Ray Riddoch is one of the energy sector’s most respected figures, with a career spanning more than 40 years, across both the UK and international markets. Ray began as a mechanical engineer in 1981, before moving into senior roles with Occidental, Elf, Total, Nexen, and CNOOC. In 2011 he was appointed Operations Director at Nexen Petroleum and later became Managing Director UK and Senior Vice President Africa at Nexen/CNOOC International, a role he held until 2020.
Today, Ray chairs Sentinel Subsea, Ballater [RD] Ltd and Ballater Community Trust. He is also a trustee of the Denis Law Legacy Trust and a patron of The Archie Foundation.
Chris Grinyer is Managing Partner at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors and has built a long and distinguished career in the property sector. With a degree in Estate Management from Heriot-Watt University, Chris started out in the public sector before joining Shepherds in 1993. Since then, he has provided expert advice to clients across Scotland on investment and development consultancy, asset management, and premises acquisition.
Based in Aberdeen since 1995, Chris brings deep knowledge of the local property market and a strong network of regional stakeholders.
Jane Barney has over a decade of senior finance experience within the subsea and offshore industries, holding several leadership positions where she developed significant expertise in financial strategy, planning, and change management.
Raised in Aberdeen with close ties to the Northfield community, Jane holds a law degree from the University of Edinburgh. She now works as a consultant for a global engineering company, supporting strategic growth.

Launched earlier this year, All Life Chances supports community centres, schools and groups in Aberdeen’s areas of greatest deprivation, working with organisations across the private, public and third sectors to drive meaningful change, build stronger communities and improve lives.
