Simeon offers a small home and a care model that is able to adapt to meet the physical, social, mental and spiritual needs of our residents.

We aspire to be a high quality nursing care home where residents and their families have a sense of security knowing that Simeon will be their home for the rest of their life due to the provision of palliative and end of life care. Nearly all residents have died at home in Simeon, as was their wish, with family at their bedside. We work together to create a loving community of care, and help make the last years of life rich, joyful and rewarding – “May you live all the days of your life” J. Swift.

Simeon is one of the independent charities part of the worldwide Camphill Movement and one of the seven Camphill charities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.  What makes Camphill different is the emphasis on mutual support and the value of everyone’s unique contribution to the community.

We are very fortunate to have a strong, dedicated and caring team.  Simeon is governed by the Board of Directors who have a wealth of knowledge and skills. We have 52 employees (full-time, part-time and relief staff); currently approximately 25 people providing care to residents and 30 other individuals supporting them in the kitchens, administration, home-making, maintenance and gardens. There is also a small number of long-term Camphill co-workers who permanently live and work in Simeon.  In addition we have some local volunteers  and 8 volunteers from across the world who live and work here for up to one year to learn about caring for the elderly.  We were delighted when we scooped the ‘Volunteers Favourite’ ACVO Aberdeen Impact Award following their nomination in 2013.

Simeon is based on the picturesque Cairnlee Estate in a suburb of Aberdeen called Bieldside. From here we support older people from the local area, Scotland and other Camphill communities.
