Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE)
CFINE improves health and well-being and the environment, tackles poverty and builds resilience through a range of support and services for and with disadvantaged, vulnerable, low-income individuals, families and communities in NE Scotland.
Social enterprise, cooperative ethos
CFINE is a social enterprise committed to social, environmental and economic development and works to cooperative, or ‘Community Development’, principles which underpin and permeate the organisation and activities. CFINE’s ethos summarised:

- Recognising that everyone has something to offer; and
- Enterprise
Social
CFINE’s raison d’etre is to provide a range of support and services, taking a ‘person-centred approach’, for and with our beneficiaries to build confidence, promote learning, skill acquisition and social networks.
Enterprise
As a social enterprise, CFINE’s enterprise activities all have the main purpose of generating income to support our charitable services and support. CFINE’s enterprise trading involves:
- Wholesale and retail fruit, vegetables and healthy snacks sold to the general public and businesses in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
- Tuk In, our tuk-tuk deployed as a mobile café selling lovely homemade soups, nice bread and fruit pots; also available for events.
- Cook at the ‘Nook, our training kitchen, 8 work stations available for rent or we can run corporate team-building sessions.
