Fittie Community Hall
About this venue
The Fittie Community Hall is a former Gospel Hall which was purchased by the Fittie Community Development Trust through a community asset transfer.
Thanks to the hard work of residents and Trustees – old and new – the Hall has undergone a complete transformation. It is now a modern, accessible hall, but still retains much of its charms. It is used for community events and available to hire.
The Hall was built in 1951 on the site of an older hall and closed in 1991. It was subsequently rented as a studio by the artist Joyce Cairns before being bought by the Fittie Community Development Trust.
The Hall can accommodate up to 50 for a seated event, and a maximum of 80 for a standing event. We have a variety of different size/style tables and chairs for 50.
The Hall is surrounded by a secluded and pretty garden which includes seating and quiet areas. Use of the garden is included with hall hire. The hall and garden are no smoking/vaping areas.
There is a small kitchen available for use – all we ask is that it is left clean and tidy after use. We do not have an alcohol sales license but alcohol may be served at events providing it is supplied by the event organiser and not sold on the premises. We have a music license. As Fittie is a residential area we ask that evening events finish around 930/945 to allow for the hall to be cleared by 10pm.
Any electrical equipment brought in by hall users (eg to play music) should be PAT tested.
There is only a small fridge and oven in the hall. We do not have a license for food preparation on site but you can bring in your own food and heat it up on site.
Car parking is limited in Fittie. We ask anyone using the hall to be considerate of local residents and park either at the harbour or on the beach front.
The most convenient way to reach Footdee by bus is via First Aberdeen service 13. The route runs between Scatterburn and Golf Links with stops at York Street, Halls Quay and Wellington Street which are all just a few minutes walk from Fittie Hall (though it only stops at Footdee at certain times of the day). The no 13 runs approximately every 20 minutes during peak times.
