As the cost of living continues to soar, those living with cystic fibrosis (CF), a complex medical condition, are among those hardest hit. On top of rising travel costs to attend essential, frequent hospital appointments, those with CF also face higher energy and food bills due to both the additional costs needed to maintain a high-calorie diet, as well as using more energy to take care of themselves. Costs include keeping their homes warm to prevent lung infections, needing an extra fridge to store sterile medications and running vital medical equipment such as nebulisers and ventilators. With these costs having to take precedence of limited resources, individuals affected by Cystic Fibrosis have little or no disposable income for social activities. Our project would provide the means for individuals affected by CF to get out and about with friends and family, encouraging social interaction to reduce loneliness and isolation and boost their physical and mental wellbeing. Through ‘A ticket for two’, The Leanne Fund would offer individuals the opportunity to attend up to 12 events/experiences over a 6 month period.
