This is a mobile role across Aberdeenshire and not office based. While you will have the support of colleagues in the Housing team and across the wider Foyer via Microsoft Teams, this role predominately involves lone working in young people’s homes.

We’re looking for a Youth Housing Development Coach to join our team, supporting young people aged 16–25 who have experienced, or are at risk of, homelessness.

You’ll work directly with young people to help them manage their tenancy, build confidence and resilience, develop independent living skills and access education, training, employment and other support.

About you

You’ll be someone who:

• Builds trusted, meaningful relationships with young people using a strengths-based, youth-centred approach.
• Listens to young people and supports them to make their own choices and achieve their goals.
• Is confident managing challenging or changing situations calmly and safely.
• Can create practical support plans and work collaboratively with young people to review progress.
• Communicates effectively with families, landlords, local authorities, health services, DWP, colleges and other partners.
• Is organised, resilient, empathetic and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Understands the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and is committed to equality, inclusion and young people’s rights.

What you’ll need

• Experience of working with young people and an understanding of housing, homelessness and local support services is essential. You’ll also need good digital, communication and organisational skills.
• SSSC registration (or willingness to work towards this), PVG membership, and an understanding of confidentiality, data protection and relevant policies are required.
