This month’s edition is all about reflecting on the year just gone and looking ahead to what’s next for ACVO in 2026. We also say a fond farewell to our Finance Manager Paul Dixon, who retires after more than six years supporting ACVO and hundreds of third sector organisations across Aberdeen. Paul has played a key role in keeping ACVO on a strong financial footing while helping to deliver vital funding programmes across the city, and the whole team wish him all the very best for his retirement.
You’ll hear from across the ACVO team as we look ahead to the year in front of us. Alasdair Ross reflects on recent work bringing third sector voices into national climate change discussions, while Mike Melvin shares a positive update on volunteering as 2026 is recognised as the UN’s International Volunteer Year – a great chance to celebrate volunteers and encourage even more people to get involved.
We also look ahead to what to expect from ACVO in 2026, with a continued focus on bringing people together, strengthening collaboration, expanding forums and networks, and showcasing the impact of the third sector.
Finally, we’re growing the ACVO team and are currently recruiting for a Senior Development Officer (The Promise). This is a great opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic team and work alongside the third sector to turn the vision of The Promise into real, practical change for children, young people and families across Aberdeen. - New community fitness mascots Dee and Don are welcomed by Sport Aberdeen, helping to promote inclusive and active lifestyles in the city.
- Befriend a Child celebrate the amazing success of their 2025 Giving Tree Appeal, which raised over £22,000 to support children and young people locally.
- Sir Alex Ferguson joined supporters at a special VSA fundraising dinner to help raise essential funds for dementia services across the North East.
