About this fund
The Barcapel Foundation provides financial assistance mainly to organisations that have Registered Charitable Status. The three priority areas of funding are:
- Health, specifically looking at mental health and complimentary medicine
- Heritage, specifically looking at the built environment and cultural heritage.
- Youth, which focuses on all aspects of children and young people, however focused more on those from socially and financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Who can apply
The foundation awards grants predominantly, but not exclusively, to charities operating in Scotland. The Barcapel Foundation provides financial assistance mainly to organisations that have Registered Charitable Status and are recognised as such by OSCR, but may on occasion make awards to non registered organisations and individuals who have charitable aims.
When to apply
Apply at any time. The board meets twice a year, usually in May/June and November.
How to apply
Download the application form from the Foundation’s website and submit via email attaching a covering letter & a copy of your annual accounts.
Exclusions
- individual applications for travel or similar
- organisations or individuals engaged in promoting religious or political beliefs
- applications for funding costs of feasibility studies or similar
- local charities whose work takes place outside the British Isles
