Youth volunteers in Aberdeen:
Ryan Bannerman
Future Choices is an Aberdeen-based charity who focus on social inclusion and recreational activities for the disabled community, as well as providing respite for their carers. Like many charities, Future Choices is supported by a team of volunteers. We spoke to one member of the team, Ryan Bannerman.
Ryan has been a youth volunteer with Future Choices for several years now and values his time volunteering with them. In February 2022, Ryan was presented with a Saltire Award after achieving 500 hours of volunteering for the charity.
As well as gaining practical and leadership skills, Ryan speaks about the social benefits of volunteering. He enjoys brightening up people’s days and making a difference through his service as a volunteer. As much as he helps those around him, Ryan also sees a benefit in himself through helping others and would encourage anyone to give back to their community just like he does.
