Background:
Music 4 U started in 2003 and became a charity in 2005.
Founder Debra Baxter (Debbie) has a lifelong passion for singing and performing. She started Music 4 U to remove barriers to the performing arts for young people irrespective of any challenges they may face.
The charity has grown organically to deliver an extensive timetable of classes for groups including group guitar lessons and dance/movement classes.
There is also a monthly Music Café which is a drop-in space for young people aged 16 to 25 who have left special education and wish to engage in music and performance.
Music 4 U online has also been developed in response to the COVID-19 crisis and ultimately aims to offer music and drama classes to young people in remote communities.
During school holidays the charity holds outreach workshops and all participants have the opportunity to take part in professional shows and events throughout the year.
The charity has also recently expanded to running weekly group singing classes at Kinellar Community Centre.
Our dedicated team of tutors, musicians, support staff and volunteers have been selected based on their ability to empathise, encourage and enrich the lives of everyone who attends Music 4 U classes.
