Mike welcomesRebecca and Lucy from CFINE in to the shmuFM studio to hear more about the work of the organisation and how it works to tackle poverty and promote sustainability in the region.
CFINE is the delivery partner operating FareShare Scotland regionally with 7 local authority areas across the north of Scotland supplying over 300 charity and community groups with surplus and donated food.
The need for the provision of emergency food parcels sadly continues to be a harsh reality. CFINE do that via a delivery service and click & collect option, along with advice and connecting people to wider support to start to address their current circumstances. They also operate community food pantries that provide their members with choice and improved access to low-cost nutritional food.
They also have a community kitchen ‘Cook at the Nook’ which is acts as a cooking hub offering a whole range of courses from basic skills to confidence in the kitchen to the inspiring Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food cooking programme, delivered exclusively in the North East at CFINE.
