Touch of Love Outreach to Support 50 Aberdeen Families with Back-to-School Grants

Reading time: 2 minutes

Touch of Love is delighted to announce a new Back-to-School Support Fund that will provide £100 grants to 50 Aberdeen families as children prepare for the new school year.

The support is intended to help with essential back-to-school costs, including uniforms, shoes, PE kits, school bags and stationery.

As children prepare to return to school after the summer holidays, many parents and carers are getting ready for the new term. For some families, this season brings excitement as children look forward to seeing their friends again, meeting new teachers, settling into new routines and starting another school year.

But for many households, the end of the summer holidays also brings real financial pressure.

School uniforms, shoes, PE kits, bags, stationery, nursery essentials and lunch costs can quickly add up. For families already managing tight budgets, getting children ready for school can become a significant source of stress.

Touch of Love Outreach regularly supports families across Aberdeen through practical initiatives that help reduce isolation, poverty, financial pressure and strengthen community wellbeing.

At Touch of Love Outreach, we believe every child deserves to start the school year feeling prepared, confident and excited. No child should have to return to school without the basic items they need.

Dr Jane Akadiri, Founder and Chief Executive of Touch of Love Outreach, said:

“We know that the cost of preparing children for school can place significant pressure on families. This support is one way we can help ensure children start the new term with confidence and the basic essentials they need. Every child deserves to feel ready, included and able to take part.”

Applications are open to eligible families across Aberdeen, and Touch of Love Outreach particularly welcomes applications from New Scots and Minority Ethnic families experiencing financial pressure.

Priority may be given to families who have three or more school-aged children, families who have a child aged 0–5 as well as school-aged children, and families who have relocated to Aberdeen within the last three years.

Please note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee support, as Touch of Love Outreach is currently able to support 50 families.

Applications close on 31 August 2026 at 11:59pm.
