All the latest news, updates and highlights from the third Sector in Aberdeen
Another month has flown by as we bring you our latest edition of ACVO News!
We are pleased to announce that Year 3 of the Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund will open for applications on Friday 15th September 2023! The fund from the Scottish Government, distributed and championed by ACVO in Aberdeen, is offering third sector organisations grants to help projects that support mental health and wellbeing in the community. Find out more about the fund at acvo.org.uk/cmhwfund.
This month, we put a spotlight on the wonderful young volunteers of Denis Law Legacy Trust in our latest ACVO film. As the driving force behind the charity’s Northfield and Torry Community Fun Days, the volunteer-led events proved to be a success by bringing the local community together with an array of free activities. Read more about these young leaders and their achievements, and watch the short film, on pages 26-29!
The ACVO Communications team also visited Aberdeen Foyer to speak with Megan Douglas, Nightstop Co-ordinator. She explains how Nightstop as a service supports young people at risk of homelessness across Aberdeen and the Shire. She also encourages anyone who has a spare room to consider becoming a host for young people who present as homeless – read the interview on pages 30-31.
In this edition, we also bring you the latest Team ACVO updates – taking part in the annual Celebrate Aberdeen parade, Gette Cobban presents the latest news from The Promise and Alasdair Ross details recent updates to charity law in Scotland.
These are your updates and this is your news.
