Port of Aberdeen celebrates decade of supPORT-all for local communities

Port of Aberdeen launches funding applications for community projects through its supPORT-all programme, taking its total support to £800,000 over the past decade.

The supPORT-all programme has been a beacon of support, fostering community development and addressing key needs in the localities surrounding the port. Since 2014, Port of Aberdeen’s supPORT-all programme has benefitted more than 210 local initiatives and supported over 200,000 children and adults across Aberdeen.

The 2024 supPORT-all programme will award a total of £25,000 to a minimum of 14 charities and community groups from areas local to the port, including: Altens, Balnagask, City Centre, Cove, Footdee, Garthdee, Kincorth, Torry and Tullos.

Funding will be allocated in monetary awards ranging from £500 to £7,500. Port of Aberdeen is actively seeking applications from all qualifying charities and community groups interested in receiving support.

Port of Aberdeen has increased its annual CSR budget to £100,000 for 2024 to help enhance its positive impact on local communities. This includes establishing a small number of multi-year strategic charity partnerships, including the supPORT-all programme, and providing funding for employee and community projects across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Jordan Harkins, Head of Communications, Port of Aberdeen said: “Our supPORT-all programme has helped those most in need in local communities over the past decade. The cost of living crisis still looms large and this year we’ll support the largest number of initiatives in the port’s history.

“I have seen firsthand the positive impact of supPORT-all and the work of those in the community. I encourage any local charities and community groups in need of support to apply.

“We are committed to being a socially responsible Trust Port that creates prosperity for generations. Building relationships and delivering lasting change for local communities is at the heart of our CSR strategy and the increase in charitable donations for 2024 to £100,000 helps to support this.”

Commenting on funding received from supPORT-all in 2023, Nicky Donelan, Development Coach, Aberdeen Foyer said: “The funding received from Port of Aberdeen had a massive reach throughout the Foyer enabling so many groups to make huge differences across Aberdeen city whilst developing their own skills, confidence, and community involvement and connections.”

A rigorous selection process will be conducted to ensure that the funds are allocated to initiatives that align with the programme’s funding criteria and support to the local communities that surround the port.

We urge eligible local charities and community groups to thoroughly review the supPORT-all funding criteria available on the Port of Aberdeen website prior to completing their application.

Applications must be submitted through the online application form no later than 5.00pm on Friday 1 March 2024. Successful applicants will be informed week commencing 18 March 2024.
