This month we bring you a jam-packed edition of all the latest third sector news, updates and opportunities from Aberdeen!
Andrew Murray from Great Western Community Centre kindly invited us along to visit their premises and to see their new indoor bowling club in action. Once a former church, this building is now a thriving hub serving the local and wider community in Aberdeen. Read words from Andrew, as well as participants of the bowling club and Ana-Maria, Festivals and Programs Coordinator for Jazz Scotland, to discover the impact the community centre is already making following it’s recent transformation.
Also this month, we are delighted to announce a recent addition to our Board of Directors with the appointment of Cameron McCready, Chief Executive at Home-Start Aberdeen. With a wealth of knowledge spanning over 15 years, Cameron discusses stepping into the role with hopes to bring his extensive experience, networks and passion to help strengthen ACVO as Aberdeen’s third sector interface.
Become a Volunteer Charter Champion! In his March update, Mike Melvin, Volunteering Services Manager, encourages third sector organisations to pledge their support to the Volunteer Charter to promote best practices for volunteering in Aberdeen and across Scotland. Find out more on pages 30-31.
