Gathimba Edwards Foundation launches winter campaign to support disadvantaged children in Kenya and Aberdeenshire

Aberdeen-based charity, Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) is launching its package of winter fundraising events and initiatives aimed at raising funds to support children and families in need in Kenya and Aberdeenshire. They are calling for members of the public as well as businesses to support through attending these events, donating and spreading the word.

Food Donation Campaign

Ever year GEF provide over 450 children in Kenya and their families with essential food packages, offering crucial relief to those who may struggle to afford even the most basic supplies. This winter, their Food Donation Campaign aims to supply each child and their family with wheat flour, maize flour, cooking oil, rice, sugar, salt, and soap for washing. The foundation aspires to raise over £2000 to deliver these packages before Christmas Day, at a cost of £4.44 per child. Find out more here

Christmas Fayre

This year GEF will host a Christmas Fayre at the Village Hotel in Kingswells on Sunday 26th November from 12-3pm. Entry is free, so come and explore our range of fantastic stalls from local businesses, indulge in seasonal treats and discover unique finds and perfectly crafted Christmas gifts. Find out more here.

GEF also have a range of specially-designed charitable Christmas cards, as well as the opportunity for a Christmas card donation for those who do not send cards.  See the design and purchase via the GEF website or here.

12 Days 12 Futures initiative

GEF’s ‘12 Days 12 Futures’ campaign sets out to help children in need by sharing some powerful words from children in Kenya, in the hope that they can find a sponsor for each of them.

Between 2015 and 2022, 96 children’s lives have been changed as a result of the campaign. Monies raised from sponsorships have helped children that face extreme challenges such as being out of school, struggling for food and living in extremely impoverished conditions.  Find out more here

Tickets can be purchased directly from the charity HERE. All funds from this event will enable GEF to pay five children’s primary school fees for one year.

Gathimba Edwards was set up in 2014 to help give disadvantaged children in Kenya a real chance in life. Through various initiatives, sponsorships and donations, the charity has supported 622 children and built over 50 new homes since launching. The charity also created the Neil Jaffrey Initiative, which has raised £37,000 to support children living with disabilities across Scotland.
