Charlie House presents festive activities for families in city centre

North-east charity calls for volunteer elves to help at Santa’s Workshop.

Local Aberdeen charity, Charlie House, is spreading festive cheer to Aberdeen city centre this November and December with a range of Christmas-themed activities for all ages to enjoy.

Working in partnership with Bon Accord Aberdeen, Santa’s Workshop will be returning to the upper mall of the shopping centre, where families can visit Father Christmas himself. Alongside his team of elves and a sack full of presents, Santa will be bringing magic and joy to families across the region.

Running from November 12 until December 24, Santa’s Workshop will take place from 9.30am-5pm every weekend along with additional dates during the week throughout both months.

Tickets are now available to purchase and cost £7.99 per child, which includes a gift from Santa. Photography packages are also available on the day for an additional fee.

All proceeds from this initiative will go towards Charlie House, helping with its mission to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threading conditions.

To help run this popular event, the Aberdeen charity is looking for 50 elves to volunteer throughout November and December to meet and greet visitors, support with bookings and help hand out gifts. This fun-filled role is the ideal opportunity for those who love the Christmas season and want to help make fond memories for youngsters.

For adults looking to get into the festive spirit, Charlie House’s ReCHarge Cafe is also hosting a series of workshops that are sure to spark inner creativity.

Taking place across a variety of dates from November 8 to December 12, local creators will be providing a range of yarn craft classes including felt work, peg loom weaving, chunky hat knitting and macrame decorations, well suited to those looking to hand-make a gift or enhance their skill set.

Susan Crighton, director of fundraising at Charlie House said: “The Christmas period is one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year for Charlie House.

“We’re extremely grateful for Bon Accord Aberdeen who partners with us on a yearly basis to deliver an incredibly popular event, alongside our year round initiatives, that really brings joy to everyone’s faces.

“This programme of events would simply not be possible without our incredible volunteers or the local businesses who collaborate with us. We are so thankful for the time everyone donates to us which in return helps us with our mission to support families with life-limiting conditions.”

Craig Stevenson, centre manager at Bon Accord Aberdeen said: “We are delighted to welcome Santa back to his workshop in Bon Accord, bringing festive magic to the city’s heart.

“Our partnership with Charlie House has brought many fantastic initiatives to Bon Accord including Santa’s Workshop, ReCHarge Café, Curated Aberdeen, The Annual Car Raffle and Big Bounce. All raising money to support children and families throughout the north-east of Scotland.”
