Diversity Bridge has celebrated the opening chapter of its new community space in Aberdeen with a special evening of connection, collaboration and community – raising £1,464.00 to help bring the downstairs space at 135 George Street to life.
Building Bridges – An Evening at Diversity Bridge, held on Thursday 10 September 2026, brought together community members, organisations, supporters, volunteers and partners for an evening celebrating the power of people coming together.
The event was delivered in collaboration with Aberdeen Foyer, with the funds raised supporting work to develop the downstairs area of Diversity Bridge into a welcoming and vibrant community space.
The evening featured opportunities for people to connect, share experiences and learn more about the vision behind Diversity Bridge and its work to create greater inclusion, opportunity, belonging and community connection.
Although £1,360.80 had been announced as the amount raised during the evening itself, further donations received afterwards brought the final total to an impressive £1,464.00.
Edward Obi, Chief Bridge Builder of Diversity Bridge, said: “What made the evening so special was not simply the amount of money we raised, but the number of people who came through our doors and stood alongside us.
“Diversity Bridge was created around a very simple idea — that we can achieve more when we build bridges rather than barriers. Seeing so many people from different backgrounds, organisations and communities coming together at 135 George Street showed exactly what that vision can look like in practice.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered and supported the evening. The £1,464 raised will make a real difference as we continue developing this space.”
Edward added: “A building is just bricks and mortar until people give it purpose. Our ambition is for Diversity Bridge to become a place where people feel welcome, where connections are made, where opportunities are created and where everyone has the chance to belong.
“Our collaboration with Aberdeen Foyer is an important part of that journey, and we are excited to see the downstairs space come to life.”
The event also highlighted the importance of partnership in creating sustainable community impact. Diversity Bridge and Aberdeen Foyer are working together to maximise the potential of the space and create opportunities for the local community.

The organisation is now looking ahead to the next stage of developing 135 George Street and expanding the opportunities available through the space.
