Leading energy services company, GEOLOG, announces partnership with local charity, Befriend a Child, this Christmas

International oil and gas company GEOLOG have announced their choice of charity to support in the UK as Aberdeen based organisation Befriend a Child, who help local children and young people living in difficult life circumstances through their befriending and mentoring programmes.

The GEOLOG Foundation supports charity initiatives worldwide, with a focus on engaging local communities and improving the lives of children. They have committed to support Befriend a Child on projects which will greatly benefit local children and young people in the Northeast of Scotland, starting with activities and outings for children and their volunteers to enjoy over the festive period.

As part of the partnership, GEOLOG are bringing joy to the lives of local children this Christmas, by funding a range of festive activities, including Christmas arts and crafts sessions and a Christmas Party for children and volunteers. They are also championing the charity’s Giving Tree Appeal which provides gifts for the local disadvantaged children the charity supports.

The charity is thankful that GEOLOG are making it possible for local children to enjoy a festive celebration this year by sponsoring their annual Christmas Party, particularly as this can be a difficult time of year for the children the charity supports. This year will be extra special as it’s the first time the event has been able to go ahead since Covid-19. At the party, children and volunteers will enjoy festive games, a full traditional Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa with gifts to take home.

Sarah Misra, CEO at Befriend a Child, says about the new relationship

“We are really excited about the partnership between GEOLOG and Befriend a Child. Many of the young people we help are not given the same opportunities in life that most of us take for granted, and working with GEOLOG will allow us to provide more support and opportunities to these youngsters, both during the festive period and through to next year, which will improve their lives.”

Lee Cockram, Director of Marketing and Development at Geolog, says, “The GEOLOG Foundation actively supports and promotes local charities, focusing on the education and quality of life of young children. We pride ourselves on engaging and working together with local communities in the countries where we operate. GEOLOG is very pleased to choose Befriend a Child in Aberdeen as our charity of choice for the UK, whose outlook and mission so closely matches GEOLOG values of enabling our younger generation to prosper and grow, overcome challenges, and live a positive life”.
