After a short summer break from ACVO News, we are glad to be back bringing you all the latest updates and opportunities from Aberdeen’s third sector!
This month, we are excited to announce the re-launch of our Volunteer Aberdeen website as part of our ongoing drive to encourage local residents to get involved with their communities. This free, online portal features hundreds of volunteer opportunities, as well as impactful volunteer stories from Aberdeen’s third sector – why not take a look and discover how you can make a difference!
We also share an insightful look into Springhill Community Garden and their network of volunteers. Read first-hand accounts from John, Joyce, Pam and Pamela about their experience giving their time to the garden and how they encourage involvement and a sense of wellbeing within the local community.
Also this month, we shine a spotlight on our #KeepThePromise in Aberdeen campaign. Following a successful event at the Aberdeen Town House in June, we highlight and celebrate 6 city-based organisations to showcase how they are keeping The Promise locally – a national pledge in Scotland to ensure children and young people grow up loved, safe and respected.
We are also thrilled to announce the news of Year 3 of the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund – with applications being accepted from Monday 19th August! Community groups and third sector organisations across the North East and Moray will be invited once again to apply for a share of £1 million to support their green and eco friendly projects – with members of the public voting for who should receive funding later this year.
These are your updates and this is your news.
We are always on the lookout for stories and features – if something is happening in Aberdeen you think we should know about you can get in touch with ACVO’s Communication Officer Andrew at andrew.davidson@acvo.org.uk or ACVO’s Digital Media Assistant Emily at emily.shepherd@acvo.org.uk so we can highlight your work.
