The Wee Blethers Group

About the project

We will run an additional 4 weekly health and wellbeing carer groups called ‘Wee Blethers’ across Aberdeen City for 12 months, benefiting 249 unpaid carers. Activities will include coffee mornings with options for games, allowing carers to suggest new activities. Carers' mental health and wellbeing will be enhanced through peer support, community connection, and access to essential information and advice. This early intervention and preventative approach will help carers build resilience and continue in their roles. The ‘Wee Blethers’ project empowers carers by ensuring their voices are heard. A strong support network improves mental health, fosters community connections, and allows opportunities for making new friends, seeking support, and building skills and confidence. Engaging with others who share similar experiences is particularly beneficial, as it helps alleviate feelings of isolation and offers a sense of belonging.
