Project description:

The focus of the project it to expand the available support to Kinship carers in the following areas - Cornhill, Fersands, Middlefield and St Machars. The activity will be fortnightly meetings where the group/s can get together and support each other while learning about coping skills, looking after self (mentally and physically), practical tools and understanding the development of young people. We will reach out through the community centres, schools, and medical centres to identify Kinship carers who would benefit from the project. Participants will learn (through psychological education) about child development, stages of adult life, coping skills, how to negotiate school systems and to cope in multi-professional meetings. The overall difference is that the group/s will feel more skilled and confident and be aware of maintaining good health and mental health.
