Elderly Support Service

About the project

The overall aim of our Elderly Support Service Befriending is to reduce social isolation and improve the mental health and well-being of older people in Aberdeen especially those from Black and Minority Ethnic communities. As majority of the older people we support are unable to leave home, our Befrienders are matched with an older person who they visit once every week to reduce social isolation and loneliness. Our Befrienders help our older people to be informed about relevant community activities, they help older people to access and also support them to attend local activities (activities organised by local groups, organisations, government etc).

Type of initiative funded: Befriending
