Memories of His Majesty's Theatre and The Music Hall

About the project

A series of writing and storytelling workshops will be held within Woodlands Care Home, with participants being those living with dementia, family members and carers. They will be delivered by poet and creative practitioner Jo Gilbert, with filmmaker Sara Stroud attending a couple of workshops to create a short film documenting the process. Jo will use memorabilia from the Aberdeen Performing Arts archives to stimulate memories of His Majesty’s Theatre and the Music Hall, with residents discussing, writing and telling their stories in English and Doric. A display will be created by volunteers at Woodlands to promote progress throughout the project, and a small exhibition of participants’ stories and archive materials will be set up in the Music Hall’s Big Sky Studio. They will be invited to visit the Music Hall to see their work and enjoy refreshments (if suitable for their conditions).
