Scarf is delighted to congratulate board member Mike Scott on being awarded an MBE in recognition of his exceptional contribution to public service and voluntary leadership across Scotland.

Mike has been involved with Scarf since its earliest days and has played a significant role in shaping the organisationโ€™s mission and impact over many years. As a board member, he brings deep sector expertise, strong governance and a values-led approach that has helped Scarf grow and support tens of thousands of households facing fuel poverty and rising energy costs.

Alongside his long-standing commitment to Scarf, Mike has given decades of voluntary service to organisations working to improve housing, energy and public services. He has served on the boards of Osprey Housing, Aberdeen Heat & Power and NHS Grampian, contributing an estimated 20,000 hours of voluntary time over the past 26 years.

Mikeโ€™s leadership has helped deliver tangible outcomes for communities, including the expansion of affordable housing, the development of heat networks supplying thousands of homes, and improved support for people facing fuel poverty. Throughout his career, he has been known for his humility, quiet leadership and unwavering focus on doing the right thing for people and communities.

Commenting on the award, Co-CEO of Scarf, Lawrence Johnston, said:

โ€œMikeโ€™s MBE is richly deserved. His commitment to voluntary leadership and serving the public has had a lasting impact on communities across Scotland. Weโ€™re incredibly grateful for his dedication, insight and the values he brings to Scarf.โ€

Scarf extends its warmest congratulations to Mike on this well-earned honour.
