At a session hosted at Aberdeen Science Centre, third sector organisations from across the North East spoke directly to the Scottish Parliament’s Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee, urging that lived experience, affordability and local impact sit at the heart of climate action and just transition planning.
For 2026 ACVO is building on a year of significant activity and progress, with a clear focus on strengthening connections, supporting collaboration and continuing to demonstrate the impact of the third sector in Aberdeen.
Volunteers provide vital and incredible support right across Aberdeen, and 2026 is shaping up to be a tremendous year to get involved.
After supporting 158 individuals since November 2024, the Cash First Flexible Crisis Fund has formally closed at the end of its one-year funding period in Aberdeen.
For over 17 years, Aberdeen has been home to runner, father and fundraiser Marius Coste – the man behind Miles of Smiles, a heartfelt movement that blends resilience, community spirit and commitment to bringing hope to others in the city and beyond.
As we reach the end of the year, it’s important to recognise just how much volunteers across Aberdeen have contributed. Month after month, people of all ages have stepped forward to support their communities and it’s been brilliant to see that dedication first hand.
