Scottish Open Data Unconference (SODU) 2022 – Aberdeen 5-6th November 2022

Reading time: < 1 minute

The Scottish Open Data Unconference (SODU) is returning for its third consecutive year. This time the event will be a physical meet-up, with an opportunity for online attendance too.

SODU 2022 takes place at ONE Tech Hub in Aberdeen, 5-6 November 2022.

Open data is data which has been licensed for re-use. It is a fuel for innovation, enables transparency of government, and delivers societal benefits by making it easier to improve services.

SODU is a weekend-long event where people come together to speak about Open Data. They share plans, exchange ideas, develop best practice and identify areas where the publication of open data could be done better.

As an unconference the attendees create the agenda, and participate in the sessions. The conference grabs the excitement and enthusiasm that you find in the coffee breaks of normal conferences to keep creating opportunities for conversations.

The first iteration of SODU, which was scheduled to take place in March 2020, had over 100 people booked to come to the city. It attracts people from all backgrounds who share an interest in Open Data. These include those in education, government employees, journalists, the data and IT industry, campaigners from civic organisations, as well as individual enthusiasts.

Last year’s event kicked off the development of the Open Data Scotland website (https://opendata.scot) – a citizen-created and maintained platform to index all of the open data in Scotland.

Tickets are now available at https://ti.to/code-the-city/sodu-2022. General weekend tickets are £25. Student tickets just £15. Daily £10 tickets aIso available. If cost is a barrier, subsidised tickets will be made available on application.
